The 1st video doesn't really show the pad until around the 5min mark. I would say judging by the video that machine is working in atleast 5' of muck if not more. The 2nd video shows what they look like and how to move them. There are other video's of them in action but this should help explain what I did and how helpfull they can be.

I would be no help in what equipment to use but my idea was to use a trash pump and place it 1-2' above the bottom and use a pressure cleaner to blast the bottom and stir it up and have the trash pump take a higher water to solid ratio. no idea how well it will work but i definitely have considered trying it.

When I do a search for "dredge pump" all i come up with our basically trash pumps which say they can pump water and up to 25% solids. The best pump available to be rented by an individual that claims to be able to handle more than 25% solids is a diaphragm pump.
